Margret is the second of three children. She and her elder brother were abandoned by their mother. After their mother disappeared, Margret was taken in by an aunt who did not send her to school. Despite her young age, she was expected to care for the aunt's children. Once discovered and reported, she was admitted to Tumaini Children's Home for care, protection, and the opportunity to attend school.
