Janet Akinyi Okore
Janet has been through a lot in her young life. She was born out of wedlock. After her mother married and had five children with her new husband, Janet did not fit in their family dynamic so was sent to live with her grandparents. After her grandparents passed, she was left with an aunt who educated her through grade 8. She could not afford to send her to secondary school, but never stopped looking for opportunities. After finding the Malindi Vocational program, they knew it was the right fit. Janet is polite and resilient. She wants to be a hairdresser and looks forward to earning her certification. She enjoys playing soccer in her free time.
